Brazil Visa Guidelines

Visa needs to be obtained 1-2 months before trip start. Once obtained your visa will be good for 5 years. All Canadians traveling to Brazil will need to obtain a travel visa from the Brazilian Consulate. We advise you to have this done 1-2 months before your trip to Brazil. The following link will have all the current information and detailed steps you need to take to apply for your visa: http://www.consbrastoronto.org/visa_tourist.php. If you are of any other nationality please contact the Brazilian embassy in your Country to obtain visa information.

Money Information

A debit card/credit card that you can use to withdraw money at ATMs is the easiest and most convenient way to travel with money. You will be charge a small fee from the local ATM machine and your home bank.  A Visa or Mastercard is also handy to have for emergencies or larger purchases.  Travel into the country with at least $200USD in small denominations. It is really hard to get small change in a lot of countries and people will not accept large bills.

In case of emergency family members can send money via Western Union, bank wires, or if possible, direct deposit into your bank account (check with your local branch about these options).

Spending Money

This is up to the individual. Depending on how many souvenirs you buy, what type of restaurants you want to eat in, expensive nights out, some of you make be on a tight budget. Each of you will have different personal preferences on how to spend your money.

Eco-Librium Sustainable Adventures recommends bringing a minimum of $500 dollars a week. For Brazil the minimum per person should be $700 CAD per week. This allows for major tourist attractions, money for meals, and additional costs. If you love shopping  and  splurging bring more!

Travel Insurance

To participate in this tour you will need to purchase and provide proof travel insurance. We can offer you the REQUIRED Emergency Medical plan, however we highly recommend purchasing the All inclusive plan which includes Trip Cancellation, AD&D, Baggage Loss, Air flight accident, trip interruption and Emergency Medical Plan.

Please mark on the booking form which insurance you would like to purchase.  If you are extending your trip or need insurance for a longer period of time please indicate on the booking form your traveling dates.

Proof of Travel Insurance is MANDATORY to hold your space on the trip.
